PlanB’s post expresses opposition to BIP 110’s filtering of forks and notes that fork supporters do not truly understand Bitcoin’s attributes as a decentralized bearer asset, that Bitcoin users’ aversion to spam is greater than it is toward other things, and why the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) fork failed back then. BIP-110 is a temporary soft-fork proposal, planning to add 7 consensus-limiting on-chain non-payment data items within an approximately one-year validity period. BIP-110 currently has only about a 1% miner support rate, far below the 55% required for approval.
