0G Labs and Partner Universities Discover 15 Zero-Day Vulnerabilities in Major Consensus Protocols

According to a paper accepted at ICML 2026, a research collaboration between 0G Labs, National University of Singapore, Peking University, and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications presented Agora, an automated testing framework for consensus protocol security. Agora has identified 15 previously unknown deep vulnerabilities across major protocols including Raft, EPaxos, HotStuff, and BullShark. The identified issues span execution discrepancies, monotonicity violations, topology defects, and signature verification flaws. The research demonstrated that mainstream large language models including GPT-5.2 and Claude 4.5 failed to detect these protocol-level vulnerabilities under the same testing conditions.
