127 Million Americans Under Extreme Heat Warnings as 152 Records Face Threat Before July 4

According to the National Weather Service, approximately 127 million Americans are under extreme heat warnings spanning from Kansas to Maine as of July 2, with 152 weather records in the eastern U.S. at risk of being matched or broken before July 4 Independence Day.

The agency's senior forecaster David Roth noted that New York's Central Park is expected to reach 100°F (38°C), tying a record set in 1966; Washington Reagan National Airport could set a new record of 103°F; and Trenton, New Jersey may reach 104°F. In total, 411 daily temperature records are facing challenge ahead of the holiday.
