AMD unveiled its first rack-scale AI system, called Helios, on July 24, directly challenging Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform in the data center market. The Helios system integrates AMD's Instinct MI455X GPU, sixth-generation EPYC "Venice" processors, Pensando networking technology, and the ROCm software platform to deliver a complete AI infrastructure solution for training and inference workloads.

Separately, AMD announced it will supply up to 2 gigawatts of Instinct MI450 AI chips to AI startup Anthropic beginning in the first half of 2027, while investing up to $5 billion in the company to deepen their partnership.
