Binance Integrates Anchorage Custody Model for Institutional Trading Without Direct Asset Deposits

Anchorage Digital has integrated its off-exchange settlement platform with Binance, allowing institutional clients to trade on the exchange while maintaining custody of crypto and US dollar assets with Anchorage rather than depositing them directly onto Binance. Under the model, institutions pledge assets held in Anchorage's custody as collateral for margin trading on Binance without transferring those assets to the exchange, reducing counterparty risk and separating custody from execution—a structure similar to traditional financial markets. The integration, available initially to select institutional clients, marks Anchorage's first off-exchange settlement deployment on its Atlas platform. BitMEX, Bitget, and KuCoin have adopted similar custody-linked trading models in 2026, reflecting growing demand among large investors for stronger custody controls before scaling trading activity.
