Bitcoin Address Dormant for 15 Years Transfers 30 BTC Worth $1.88M on July 5

According to Galaxy Research, a Bitcoin address identified as 1KV47 transferred 30 BTC worth approximately $1.88 million on July 5, marking its first outgoing transaction since receiving the coins in August 2011. The address is among 39,069 wallets named in a New York lost-property lawsuit seeking ownership of dormant Bitcoin holdings.

The addresses collectively hold an estimated 3.7 million BTC worth roughly $234 billion, according to Sani, founder of analytics platform Timechain Index. Data from Galaxy Digital shows wallet movements have accelerated sharply—in June, 31 dormant addresses moved 17,527 BTC, significantly higher than February when five addresses transferred 4,834 BTC.
