Bitcoin held near $65,000 Monday morning, recovering part of Friday's decline below $63,000 but finishing roughly flat for the week, according to Tyler Warner of Decrypt. Ethereum rose 1% to $1,750, while Solana gained 1% to $73. The consolidation comes as geopolitical risks resurface: the Iran ceasefire deal signed Friday, which initially drove oil down 9%, reversed over the weekend when Iran ordered the Strait of Hormuz closed again. Separately, CME Group filed a lawsuit against the CFTC on Thursday, arguing that perpetual futures should be classified as swaps under Dodd-Frank rather than futures, potentially threatening the regulatory approvals granted to Kalshi and Coinbase for U.S. crypto perpetuals. Franklin Templeton also filed for ETFs that reinvest U.S. stock dividends into Bitcoin rather than distributing them as cash.
