Bithumb Introduces Video Call Verification for Account Holders Aged 80 and Above

Bithumb announced today it has introduced an additional account verification procedure using video calls for users aged 80 and above, effective since April 1. The measure aims to protect vulnerable elderly users and prevent fraud targeting senior customers amid rising cases of account takeover, credential theft, and investment scams. Account holders aged 80 and above are required to undergo video call verification with Bithumb's customer support team during account registration or periodic re-authentication. If identity is confirmed and service intent is verified, accounts are activated normally. Failed verification results in login suspension, and accounts showing signs of unauthorized use face immediate blocking. If a video call cannot be connected after four attempts, withdrawal and trading functions are temporarily restricted until proper verification is completed.
