BitMEX Announces Closure on September 23, Halts New User Registration Effective Immediately

According to its official announcement, crypto exchange BitMEX will close on September 23, 2026 at 12:00 UTC+8. The platform has stopped accepting new user registrations effective immediately. The decision follows a strategic review of the exchange's operations and the crypto industry by parent company HDR Global Trading Limited's board.

BitMEX will operate normally until closure but will restrict new position openings from August 26, 2026 at 12:00 UTC+8 onward; users may only reduce existing positions. Any remaining positions at closure will be force-liquidated. Users who fail to withdraw assets before the shutdown deadline will be charged a monthly account management fee of $50 or 1% of account balance, whichever is higher.
