According to CoinDesk, a farmer in Paraná, Brazil raised nearly $20,000 in credit by tokenizing 10 dairy cattle through RWA (Real World Assets) on the B3 securities exchange on July 24, bypassing local banks' tightened lending to small agribusinesses. Cowmed, the Brazilian agri-tech company behind the initiative, equipped each cow with an AI-powered Smarty Collar that monitors health, behavior, and location in real time; encrypted data generates a digital identity written into B3 credit agreements to prevent the same animal from being pledged multiple times and allows replacement if the cow dies.
Cowmed currently tracks approximately 100,000 cattle valued at over $395 million. The company projects that up to 20% of its network could adopt this financing model, potentially unlocking around $77.6 million in agricultural credit.
