BTC rose 0.99% in 15 minutes: technical rebound and short covering confluence drive short-term recovery

BTC2.23%

July 7, 2026, 14:45-15:00 UTC, BTC rapidly moved higher within 15 minutes, hitting a high of 63,629.9 USDT and a low of 62,936.2 USDT, with an amplitude of 1.10%, and closing up +0.99%. This unusual move occurred against the backdrop of a technical recovery following BTC's sharp correction in June, with market volatility notably higher than in previous days.

The primary drivers of this move were technical rebound demand combined with accelerated short covering. BTC experienced approximately a 31.92% monthly decline in June 2026, falling from the $77,000-$78,000 range to briefly below $59,000, and recovering to the $63,000-$64,000 range in early July, leaving it in a clearly oversold area with technical repair needs. Meanwhile, the persistent decline from late June to early July accumulated a large number of short positions, and the price recovery triggered programmatic closing, creating a positive feedback loop of rapid short-term upward movement.

Additionally, marginal improvement in ETF fund flows provided external support. June 2026 saw a record net outflow of approximately $4.06 billion from BTC ETFs, but early July showed signs of slowing outflows, with some shorts turning to a wait-and-see stance, providing a liquidity window for the price rebound. Technical indicators also signal short-term rebound momentum: RSI(14) at 51.329 in neutral territory but trending upward, MA5, MA10, and MA20 short-term moving averages showing buy signals, while medium-term moving averages still show sell signals, suggesting the market is in a bottom consolidation phase.

It should be noted that the current volatility is still within a normal daily range. BTC's 7-day range is $64,400-$58,007, and a 1% move in 15 minutes is not unusual. Going forward, attention should be paid to whether the $64,000-$65,000 resistance level can be effectively broken, and whether ETF fund flows can continue to improve. BTC's high-volatility nature remains unchanged, and strict risk control is required for short-term operations.
