Cardano Founder: AI Agents Will Surpass Human Internet Activity by 2035, Disrupting Ad-Driven Models

ADA-2.30%
According to CoinDesk, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson predicted at the Consensus conference on May 7 that AI agents will surpass human activity in internet searches, commerce, and transactions by 2035. Since AI agents do not click advertisements or exhibit brand preferences, Hoskinson said this will disrupt the ad-driven business models of platforms like Google, Amazon, and Facebook. He attributed Google's interest in the x402 protocol to this anticipated shift, noting the protocol enables AI agents to make programmatic payments via stablecoins and crypto payment rails. Hoskinson added that AI agents represent the most favorable development for cryptocurrency, as they simplify user experience and encourage direct asset control rather than reliance on custodial wallets.
