CATL Signs Agreement to Deploy 5GWh Sodium-Ion Storage System in Western Europe From 2027

According to its official statement, CATL has signed a memorandum of understanding with Dutch energy solutions provider Alfen N.V. to supply sodium-ion energy storage systems to Western Europe starting from 2027. Under the agreement, CATL will deploy 5 gigawatt-hours of its Tian Heng sodium-ion storage systems in Western European countries including the Netherlands. The deployment is part of CATL's dual-track strategy combining lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery technologies.
