China Summer Travel Season Starts; Hotel and Train Bookings Up Year-Over-Year as Oil Prices Fall

According to research from Guotai Huatong cited by Jin10 on July 5, China's summer travel season is ramping up with hotel and train bookings increasing year-over-year. Flight ticket presales have accelerated since late June, though ticket booking progress trails 2025 levels due to rising fares.

As middle and high school students begin summer break in early July, air travel demand is expected to drive ticket prices higher. International oil prices have declined sharply, with domestic fuel costs anticipated to decrease monthly, supporting improved aircraft utilization rates and better airline profitability during the peak season.
