China's Four Agencies Promote Renewable Energy Use in Data Centers, Green Backup Power Transition

According to Gelonghui, China's National Energy Administration, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and National Data Administration released an action plan on May 8 to promote artificial intelligence and energy synergy. The plan includes measures to increase renewable energy consumption in data center facilities by incorporating green electricity usage as a key planning indicator and supporting participation in green certificate trading. The agencies also aim to accelerate the transition of backup power systems in data centers from traditional fuel-based generators to clean energy alternatives.
