Chinese Citizen Detained After Inadvertently Crossing Nepal-India Border; Consulate Issues Travel Warning

According to China's Consulate General in Kolkata, on May 10, a Chinese citizen was detained by Indian border forces after inadvertently crossing into Indian territory near the Nepal-India border. The consulate issued a formal warning urging Chinese citizens not to travel to border areas between Nepal and India, as the open border has few boundary markers and makes it easy to accidentally enter Indian territory. India imposes severe penalties for unauthorized entry, including imprisonment of 2 to 8 years and fines, regardless of intent. The consulate emphasized that Chinese citizens must not attempt to cross the border and should not rely on local guides.
