According to Anthropic's official account, by late 2025, Boris Cherny, chief engineer behind Claude Code, completed 88 code commits in a single day using automated commands—with zero manual coding. Cherny and core team member Igor Kofman have both achieved 100% code generation through Claude Code, eliminating the need to write code by hand.
Claude Code evolved from an internal tool called Claude CLI, initiated by Cherny after joining Anthropic in September 2024 from Meta. The tool gained breakthrough capability to directly control local system commands—including automatic screenshot capture and interface reading—with Claude 4 model's enhanced performance. The lightweight command-line architecture enabled rapid iteration without complex web maintenance, allowing the team to deploy hot updates within minutes.
