According to CNBC, on July 27, CME Group launched cash-settled single-stock futures and micro contracts on 55 major U.S. stocks and 22 additional micro offerings. The initial lineup includes SpaceX, Micron Technology, Nvidia, Tesla, and Apple. Micro contracts are designed for retail investors with reduced contract sizes of 10 shares, compared to standard 100-share contracts, requiring lower margin.
The products trade on CME's Globex platform 23 hours daily, Sunday evening through Friday afternoon, allowing investors to respond immediately to earnings announcements and market events outside regular U.S. stock market hours. Settlement occurs via cash based on official closing prices on expiration dates.
