Congo to Resume Commercial Potash Production in Early 2027 With Chinese Investment

According to Congo's Ministry of Geology and Mining, the Buguma-Massi potash project, developed by China's Shenzhen Luyuan Mining Investment, will resume commercial potassium chloride production in early 2027, ending decades without large-scale potash output in the country.

The project, located in Kouilou Province, plans to begin test production by end-2026 and reach full commercial operation in Q1 2027. First-phase capacity targets 600,000 tons annually of potassium chloride, expandable to 2 million tons long-term, with dedicated export port facilities included.
