Databricks Extends Microsoft Partnership Through 2030, Expands Azure Cobalt Adoption

According to Databricks, on July 24 the company expanded its partnership with Microsoft through the 2030s, deepening product integration and increasing Azure infrastructure use. The deal covers running Databricks' core operations and analytics on Azure Databricks, while expanding adoption of Azure Cobalt processors—specifically moving from Cobalt 100 to Cobalt 200, an Arm-based processor Microsoft said delivers up to 50% better performance. Microsoft will continue integrating Databricks features like Genie and Unity AI Gateway across its products, including Microsoft 365, which has approximately 450 million commercial subscribers.
