Dow Hits 53,000 for First Time Ever on July 6 as Broadcom, AMD Surge

According to Herald Economics, on July 6, the Dow Jones Industrial Average broke above 53,000 for the first time in history, closing at 53,055.91, up 155.84 points (0.29%). The Nasdaq Composite rose 288.49 points (1.12%) to 26,121.16, while the S&P 500 gained 54.19 points (0.72%) to 7,537.43.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rebounded 2.2% as chip stocks recovered from last week's profit-taking pressure. Broadcom climbed 3.7% after announcing its semiconductor partnership with Apple would extend through 2031. AMD and Teradyne also advanced following analyst price target increases, with AMD gaining 6% and Teradyne rising 2%.
