East China Normal University Publishes Special Issue Featuring 5 Papers Authored by DeepSeek and Gemini

According to Beating, East China Normal University's academic journal published a special issue recently featuring 5 education papers authored by AI models DeepSeek and Gemini as first authors. The journal documents results from a large-scale AI-first co-authorship experiment launched by the university in September 2025, which received 724 submissions over six months. The experiment required AI to lead writing while humans ensured quality control. The journal's report found that while AI excelled at idea generation, information organization, and text refinement, it struggled with literature fabrication, logical coherence, and insufficient innovation. The findings also indicate AI showed certain reliability in peer review, and AI-human collaboration demonstrated higher compatibility with early-career researchers.
