According to Tom Lee at Fundstrat, capital tied to the AI sector is rotating from chip stocks into Ethereum as ETH trades at $1,925 and tests the $2,000 resistance level. Lee framed ETH as the new digital infrastructure play for AI-focused portfolios, arguing that decentralized compute and data networks could attract institutional capital previously favoring chipmakers like Nvidia.
The thesis gained institutional support when S&P Dow Jones Indices and Pantera Capital launched the S&P Pantera Digital Asset Index this week. The 18-asset benchmark applies S&P 500-style financial screens to crypto protocols, with Ethereum as its largest holding. Index constituents generated over $3 billion in annualized revenue across the previous two quarters. Technically, if institutional demand strengthens while resistance weakens, Ethereum could break above $1,950 and challenge the $2,000 level in coming weeks.
