EU Corn Yields Cut 6% Amid Heatwave, France Down 13%

According to the EU's Monitoring Agricultural Resources (MARS) center, heat and drought conditions across Western and Central Europe have forced sharp downward revisions to crop yield forecasts. EU corn yields were cut 6% and now sit 2% below the five-year average, with France—the bloc's largest corn producer—facing a 13% reduction, down 15% from its five-year average. EU wheat yields were trimmed 2%, while French wheat dropped 4% year-over-year. Hot temperatures shortened grain filling periods and caused summer crops to face moisture stress during critical growth stages.
