According to its 2025/26 Annual Report, the UK Financial Conduct Authority secured three arrests linked to illegal financial promotions and 17 criminal convictions during its first year under a new five-year strategy. The regulator also issued 2,329 warnings about potentially fraudulent firms and delivered an estimated 5.6 billion pounds in benefits to consumers and the wider economy. The enforcement push targeted investment scams, market abuse and money laundering, with an international coordinated operation in June 2025 resulting in additional criminal proceedings, cease-and-desist letters, and 650 removal requests to social media platforms for unlawful financial promotion content.
