France's Electricity Exports Hit Record 51 TWh in H1 2026, Up 36% Year-Over-Year

According to grid operator RTE, France's net electricity exports reached 51 TWh in the first half of 2026, up 36% year-over-year and 19% above the previous H1 record set in 2024. The surge was driven by a 4.6% increase in overall generation, with nuclear power as the primary contributor. France's substantial nuclear fleet enabled the country to maintain large surplus low-cost electricity supplies for export across Europe.
