Getty Images Cancels Shutterstock Merger on July 6 After UK CMA Demands Editorial Business Divestment

According to UAnalyze, Getty Images announced on July 1 that its board decided to terminate the merger with Shutterstock on July 6 unless circumstances materially change. The UK Competition and Markets Authority required Shutterstock to divest its Editorial business as a condition for deal approval. Getty stated the company had no obligation to accept this requirement under the merger agreement, leading to the decision to terminate the transaction.
