Gold Holds Above $4,670 as Trump Questions Fort Knox Reserves

On Monday, May 11, gold trades at $4,673.81 per ounce. The move follows Trump's renewed comments about visiting Fort Knox to verify U.S. gold reserves, during an interview with journalist Sharyl Attkisson. Trump stated he wanted to "knock on their door" to confirm the nation's gold remains in the vault. The remarks revived debate around the U.S. Bullion Depository, which houses more than 147 million fine troy ounces according to the U.S. Mint. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent previously confirmed annual audits verify all reserves remain fully accounted for.
