Iran Accuses US of Violating Memorandum Framework Over Strait of Hormuz

According to Jin10, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei said on July 8 that the United States violated the bilateral memorandum of understanding by questioning provisions on safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz and launching what he called "aggressive attacks" against Iran. Baghaei stated the memorandum was never built on mutual trust but rather on a "commitment-for-commitment" mechanism, with Article 5 designating Iran as responsible for establishing navigational safety arrangements in the strait. He said U.S. unilateral actions challenged this provision and emphasized Iran would firmly defend its national interests and sovereignty.
