Iran Claims It Must Control Entire Strait of Hormuz During Wartime; ~20 Deaths in Recent U.S. Strike

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated in a recent television interview that during wartime, Iran's control must extend across the entire Strait of Hormuz, not merely its own territorial waters. He warned that if Iran only secures its own side while neglecting the other, national security would be compromised, as the waterway could be exploited by adversaries. Gharibabadi also alleged that the U.S. has reimposed a maritime blockade on Iran, which he said has "completely undermined" the Iran nuclear deal. He reported that nearly 20 Iranians were killed and 200 wounded in recent U.S. airstrikes.
