Iran Denies American Detainee Release Claims by Trump on July 16

According to Iranian authorities, on July 16 local time, Iran refuted U.S. President Trump's claims about the release of an American detainee from Iranian custody. Iran stated that after verification, no American detainees matching Trump's description have been released from Iranian prisons, and no prisoner exchange involving U.S. citizens has occurred. Trump had previously posted on social media claiming Iran allowed an American citizen to leave the country, stating the individual had been wrongfully detained since December 2024 under the Biden administration and has now safely departed Iran.
