Iran Reaffirms Right to Take Measures to Ensure Hormuz Strait Security

Gate News message, April 28 — Iran's UN mission stated on April 28 that Iran has the right to take all necessary measures within its territorial waters to respond to security threats. As the primary coastal state of the Hormuz Strait, Iran asserted its legal authority to adopt necessary and proportionate measures in response to emerging security threats.

According to the statement, these measures aim to ensure safe navigation and prevent the Hormuz Strait from being used for hostile or military purposes. Iran accused the U.S. of illegal actions that endanger international maritime safety and emphasized that any disruption to transportation in the Persian Gulf and its consequences should be attributed to the United States.
