Israel and Lebanon Sign Framework Agreement on June 26, Mediated by Trump Administration

According to Axios, Israel and Lebanon signed a framework agreement on June 26 after four days of negotiations mediated by the Trump administration in Washington. The agreement aims to end Israel's military occupation of southern Lebanon and restore Lebanese territorial integrity, marking a significant diplomatic breakthrough for the two nations.

Under the framework, immediate measures include two pilot projects where Israeli forces will withdraw from select areas and Lebanese military will take control. U.S. military officers will participate in oversight operations to verify the absence of Hezbollah armed personnel in the transferred zones. Israeli officials stated that Israeli forces will maintain security operations in designated zones along the "Yellow Line" until armed groups are fully disarmed.
