Kenya President's Official Website Hacked for 5 Bitcoin Ransom on July 18

According to Odaily, Kenya's presidential website president.go.ke was breached on July 18, with hackers demanding 5 Bitcoin in ransom or threatening to leak undisclosed information by Saturday evening. Attackers briefly disrupted the site and defaced its homepage.

The government's ICT Authority has initiated a cybersecurity response protocol and temporarily restricted public access to the portal to contain the incident and conduct forensic investigation. Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo stated that no evidence of unauthorized data access, data breach, or information loss has been found, and government systems remain secure.
