According to Moody's Investors Service, a report released this week warns that artificial intelligence infrastructure spending is eroding free cash flow at hyperscale companies including Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta, while increasing balance sheet risks. The rating agency's research tracked six companies and flagged that stock sell-offs and off-balance-sheet financing operations threaten these firms' credit quality. Despite the warning, Moody's noted that Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta maintain among the world's strongest corporate balance sheets.
