Omnisient Wins UK Credit Award for Grocery-Data-Based Creditworthiness Scoring, Beating Experian and SAS

Omnisient, a South African fintech company, has won the "Best Technology Provider – Data, Analytics & Infrastructure" category at Britain's Credit Awards, outpacing Experian and SAS, according to the company.

Omnisient has developed a privacy-compliant method allowing credit lenders to access and analyze grocery retail data to assess creditworthiness based on shopping behavior and product purchases, without sharing personal details. In South Africa, the technology has scored over 8 million consumers, of which 3.2 million qualified for credit for the first time. The approach improved participating lenders' risk model accuracy by 41%, measured by the Gini coefficient. TransUnion, a major global credit bureau, acquired a minority stake in Omnisient in 2025 and co-led a $12.5 million funding round, with the company now expanding into the UK, U.S., and Brazil.
