Qatar PM: US-Iran Direct Hotline Established for Hormuz Strait Reopening; LNG Output to Resume in Weeks

According to Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed, the United States and Iran have agreed to establish a direct communication hotline to ensure maritime safety during Hormuz Strait demining and reopening operations, as announced on June 24. The mechanism will provide official verification channels for threat reports to reduce risk of miscalculation.

Qatar's LNG production is expected to recover to normal operations within weeks as strait conditions stabilize, the energy company said. Additionally, the US and Iran extended their April 8 ceasefire agreement for 60 days while advancing nuclear negotiations. The US issued a sanctions waiver allowing Iran to continue oil sales through August 21 as an economic incentive.
