Samsung Display CEO: AI Driving New Display Demand on July 22

According to Yonhapinfomax, on July 22, Samsung Display CEO Lee Cheong stated at K-Display 2026 in Seoul that artificial intelligence is generating new demand in the display industry. Lee, who chairs the Korea Display Industry Association, noted that AI servers and data centers require high-performance displays and optical components, while on-device AI applications demand low-power, high-quality panels. He added that new markets are rapidly emerging in areas such as smart glasses, edge devices, and humanoids. However, Lee acknowledged that the current year faces significant challenges due to rising semiconductor prices, leading to reduced smartphone and IT device orders and declining display demand.
