SEC Launches ETF Rules Review for Crypto and Prediction Markets on Tuesday

SOL-2.48%
DOGE-2.13%
According to Odaily, the SEC on Tuesday (June 30) announced a public consultation on the regulatory approach for new-type ETFs and whether existing fund registration and listing processes need adjustment. The review follows rapid expansion in crypto ETFs and increased applications for prediction market-linked ETF products. SEC Chair Paul Atkins stated the agency seeks market feedback to ensure the U.S. ETF market continues to grow and innovate while serving investors effectively. The SEC has approved multiple crypto ETFs beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum since Atkins took office in April 2025, including products tracking SOL and DOGE. The agency queried whether standardized listing frameworks should be established for certain ETF categories and whether some new-type ETFs require registration as investment companies.
