Semiconductor-Grade CO2 Supply Tightens; Samsung, SK Hynix Face Procurement Pressure

According to Citrini analyst jukan on June 28, semiconductor manufacturers face supply warnings for high-purity CO2 as refinery and petrochemical output declines. Industry inventory has dropped below one month, compared to the typical one-month buffer. Samsung Electronics uses 1,800-2,000 tons monthly while SK Hynix consumes 600-700 tons, with neither reporting production halts yet but both aggressively purchasing despite price increases.

Liquid CO2 prices have risen approximately 20% since the start of the year, with analysts warning supply tightness may persist through year-end. Major supply sources in South Korea include Taekyung Chemical, Sundo Chemical, Dongkwang Chemical, and SK Air Plus.
