Semiconductor Index Rises 87.8% in Q2, Best Quarter on Record Since 1994

According to Philadelphia Stock Exchange data, the Semiconductor Index (SOX) rose 87.8% in Q2 2026, marking its best quarterly performance since records began in 1994. The index has more than doubled so far in 2026.

Micron Technology reported fiscal Q3 earnings of $25.11 per share, compared with $1.91 a year earlier — a 1,215% year-over-year increase. Other chip stocks surged during the quarter: Intel rose 216.4%, Advanced Micro Devices climbed 185.6%, while equipment makers Applied Materials, KLA and Lam Research all more than doubled. Nvidia gained 14.7% and Broadcom rose 22%.
