According to BlockBeats on June 21, Serenity clarified that SIVE's laser technology addresses multiple next-generation optical interconnect scenarios—including pluggable optical modules, CPO horizontal scaling, CPO vertical scaling, and NPO—rather than just serving as a CPO vertical scaling laser supplier. Sivers and Jabil jointly developed a 1.6T optical transceiver using CW (continuous-wave) lasers, circumventing EML (electro-absorption modulated laser) capacity constraints with lower power consumption. Jabil management described the partnership as building a substantial moat.
Serenity noted that other pluggable optical module vendors have already contacted SIVE following Jabil's announcement, currently in joint development or certification phases. CPO horizontal scaling is projected to launch in H2 2026 (with SIVE as supplier to POET), while CPO vertical scaling is expected to scale in H2 2027 driven by Ayar and Nvidia NVLink CPO ecosystems. Industry estimates position SIVE as the critical laser supplier across emerging optical interconnect architectures starting 2027.
