SK Chairman Forecasts 50-60% Rise in Storage Chip Demand Next Year, Supply Gap Widening

SK-4.76%
According to South Korea's Daily Economic News on July 19, SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won projected that AI semiconductor demand will surge 60-100% next year, while overall storage chip demand will grow at least 50-60%. He noted that most companies' supply capacity for next year remains severely constrained, with the supply-demand gap likely to widen further as global firms compete for storage chip supplies. Choi stated that current expansion plans fall short of meeting rapid demand growth, and SK's strategy is to build wherever possible, though equipment, labor, and construction timelines still limit production capacity.
