South Korea Designates 8 Platforms for Misinformation Rules Compliance on July 8

According to Yonhapinfomax, South Korea's Broadcasting Communications Commission announced on July 8 that eight platforms are now subject to new misinformation compliance requirements under the amended Information and Communications Network Act. The designated platforms include four South Korean companies—Naver, Kakao, Nate, and DCinside—and four international platforms: Google, Meta, X, and TikTok. These platforms, each with over 1 million daily active users as of end-2025, must establish procedures to receive and handle misinformation reports and publish transparency reports on their moderation activities. The commission stated it will monitor platform compliance with these obligations.
