South Korea President Calls for Enhanced Oversight of Single-Stock Leveraged ETFs on July 22

According to Korean media NATE, South Korea's President Lee Jae-myung called on financial regulators today to strengthen oversight of single-stock leveraged ETFs targeting Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, citing widespread market criticism that such products magnify volatility.

Lee stated that while regulatory measures have been implemented, investors believe the products have exacerbated market declines. South Korea's financial authorities noted that overseas leveraged product scale has declined and individual investors' net investment in foreign stocks fell from approximately $40 billion in 2025 to $2.8 billion in the first half of 2026, helping stabilize the exchange rate.
