South Korea Recovers 590.1B Won in Public Funds in Q2 2026, Cumulative Recovery Rate Hits 72.9%

According to South Korea's Financial Services Commission, the government recovered 590.1 billion won in public funds during the second quarter of 2026, comprising 560.1 billion won in dividends from financial institutions' shares acquired during restructuring and 30 billion won in interest income from loans to subsidiary KR&C. Through June 2026, total public fund recovery reached 123 trillion won since November 1997, representing a 72.9% recovery rate against 168.7 trillion won injected during the same period. The FSC stated it will continue efforts to ensure smooth repayment through efficient asset management and timely asset sales.
