South Korea Tightens Leverage ETF Tracking Error Standards to 2% Domestic, 5% Overseas, Effective August 19

According to South Korea's Financial Services Commission on July 24, the FSC will strengthen leverage ETF tracking error management standards effective August 19, 2026. Domestic asset thresholds will tighten from 3% to 2%, while overseas assets will decrease from 6% to 5%. Asset managers and securities firms failing to meet these standards face restrictions on launching new ETF products. Between July 1–16, 59 tracking error violations were recorded across asset managers, with Mirae Asset (11), Samsung Asset Management (10), and KB Asset Management (9) posting the most breaches.
