According to Yonhap Infomax, South Korea's government announced on June 29 three mega infrastructure projects aimed at securing national competitiveness in the artificial intelligence era. The initiative, unveiled at the presidential office, focuses on establishing advanced semiconductor production hubs connecting the Honam, Chungcheong, and Yeongnam regions, with the government providing critical infrastructure support.
Samsung Group Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won pledged to undertake large-scale long-term investments in the projects. President Lee Jae-myung stated he would personally oversee the investment progress and established a dedicated presidential secretary role to manage implementation, following a governance model similar to past industrialization efforts.
