South Korea's Covered Call ETF Assets Surge to 26.48 Trillion Won, Up 11 Trillion Since Year-Start

According to Newsis, as of July 16, South Korea's covered call ETF market saw total assets surge to 26.48 trillion won, up 11 trillion won since the start of the year. The number of covered call ETF products listed domestically increased from 52 at the beginning of 2026 to 61, reflecting the strategy's growing appeal amid market volatility. Recent returns have been particularly strong, with several products delivering year-to-date gains of 70-80%, while annualized dividend yields for some products exceeded 16%. The covered call strategy simultaneously buys stocks and sells call options, using the option premium to cushion downside losses while generating stable monthly distributions.
