South Korea's KOSPI Rises 91.9% YTD, Becomes Top Performer Among Major Indices as of July 15

According to the Financial Services Commission on July 15, South Korea's KOSPI index has surged 91.9% year-to-date, becoming the top-performing index among major global markets. The market's global ranking also improved from 13th to 7th place by market capitalization, with the Price-to-Book ratio rising to 3.06x.

The FSC announced major reforms aimed at revitalizing the undervalued KOSDAQ market and established a new entity called the Korean Strategic Technology Partners (KSTP) to channel long-term capital into strategic technologies. The commission also outlined a roadmap to transition to T+1 settlement cycle by 2027 and plans a three-week "Korea Premium Week" starting September 28 to attract overseas investment.
